Scrappin' September 29,2007

So last night after an imprompt call to my sister in law, who was kind enough to take Sam for the evening. I met up with my girlfriends whom I hadn't seen in quite a while. We had an evening of scrappin together. I am sure glad that I ended up being able to attend. And I am also grateful that Sam had a fabulous evening. So much that he slept till 9am. Which I might at is highly unusual, I guess he should be spending more time at the Oly household!

Painting Grandma & Papa's house Sept 12,2007

We managed to get back to Grandma & Papa' house to finish painting. We did the stucco top part a few days before with Karen. So the photos attached are from the new color going on the cedar boards. Now if memory serves me correct when I was young it was a harvest gold color for many years, then late in my teens the blue grey was introduced and now a brick red. Inspired by their trip to Sweden and seening my grandathers birth place and farm. So without further ado....

Just another beach day! September 10,2007

We find ourselves at the beach as it is a dog and kid friendly place. Everyone runs freely and is just happy doing so. So here is our latest venture down to White Rock. As you can see Sam is getting way to confortable with the sand and taking the term mud bath literally!

A quick visit to Grandma & Papa's August 29,2007

Sam & I stopped in on Grandma & Papa to bring them some goods from our garden. We had a pleasent visit and of coarse there are some pictures to share. The first picture is a flower from the Grandma's garden then Sam smelling the flowers and finally a picture of the peaches we brought over from our place.

Way behind time to play catch up.... Aug 27,2007

We managed to go to the beach with Auntie Donna, Kyle, Brandon and a friend Taylor. We had an enjoyable time it was really nice to see Sam interacting with his cousins. The boys are just so good with him taking the time to get down on his level and help him out. We are just lucky that way!

Fall is setting in, let's Bake! September 4,2007

Okay I wasn't quite baking but I did make a yummy treat! So I tried my hand at making marshmallows. And I have to say they turned out quite nicely. Definely worth putting out for a treat on a bday or for Christmas treat bags. So without futher ado the pictures.

First you toast the coconut. Then you begin to heat the sugar mixture till the correct temp. You add that mixture to the disolved gelatin and mix till light and fluffly. Add to your dish with the toasted coconut and let sit for 24 hours. I think that was the challenging part for Darren.

Busy, busy, busy August 24,2007

Our summer has consisted of many tasks as most due. First we gave the house a good coat of paint to freshen it up. Then we started to hack down some of the overgrown shrubbery. What followed next was an event of pulling overgrown junipers and whatever else was in the front gardens right out. Yesterday we managed to rent a chipper to rid ourselves of the giant piles that were developing on our property. At night as we fall into bed I tell Darren that it it alot of work being a farmer! Well of coarse here are a few picture so you can see yourselves! Hope your summer projects are going well too!

On a side note not apples this year but maybe next year though we are enjoying a small crop of peaches. Yummy!

BBQ @ Mom & Dad's with the Stemlers! August 13,2007

We were invited over for a BBQ at Mom & Dad's house out of town guests the Stemlers were visiting. On this particular visit they had their faternal twin grandaugters Ashely & Tia with them. A wonderful dinner was had but the company was better. Those girls are hilarous! Pictures didn't even capture the whitty banter that carried on throughout the evening. And as a special surprise Mom had a St.Honor bon bon cake for Darren's birthday.

PS The little ladies are drinking a raspberry drink!

Camping @ Alice Lake August 9 & 10,2007

Trying to enjoy a bit of summer we packed up the car, kid and dog and headed camping. Okay we cheated a little bit Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Donna & Kyle came too in the big RV. Though we did sleep in our own tent. They were kind enough to take some of our load in the RV which made for a less cramped drive up. I don't know who was happier Sam or Bronwynne, due to the fact they managed to sit in the same area for the car ride.(Usually Bronny rides in the back of car) We had a splendid time together. The rain did managed to pour one night but we all stayed nice a dry. We did a day hike of the four lakes and had a couple of campfires. And note to self always take a bathing suit or your sister in law to lend you half of hers! And alway take your camera!

Aiden's Birthday August 3,2007

Aiden's birthday was a Pirate's theme. There was a good time had by all and Pauline had a message in the bottle scavanger hunt for the all the kids.

August 3rd is a very busy day for D's side of the family. We have two nephew's that share the day plus Dave & Pauline celebrate their anniversary. So with that being mentioned the next two posts are from the birthday celabrations. First it is BBQ for Kyle.

Picking up D the other day August 1,2007

The other day we picked up Darren from the Vancouver airport and decided to go for a walk by the airport. I brought all the kids with me. Well when Darren got in the car you think the world had stopped Sam was saying Daddy repeatedly and Bronwynne was crying like where have you been. All was well once we got to the park!

Saturday night out! July 28,2007

Now Saturday nights are not what the were in our youth. We are fortunate to be invited by friends to come over and have a wonderful dinner and enjoy each others company. We packed up Sam and visited with the Jacobs and the Greaves on Saturday night. A tasty dinner of spanish rice, fajitas and a crispy salad were served along with some Bellinis'. All the kids did very well. H was getting a taste of the night life as the others were up way past their bedtime. A good time was had by all. An now the pictures....

Blast at the Beach July 25,2007

Yesterdays activities included a morning at White Rock beach with the whole family. It is wonderful that they have a dog section at the beach. Dogs and kids are synonymous with each other it is a wonderful site with the groups of them all playing. So here are few shots from the day.

Da Girlz get together July 20,2007

Today we managed to get most of the girlz together. It was sure nice to see everybody. Even though you may live in the same city there just is not enough time in the day to see everyone all the time so it is at time like this you have to savour the friendships that we do have.

Oh you may notice that my little Sam is not in the group photo he did not want anything to do with it and well this year he can get off the couch and leave! So we have a sideline picture instead.
